Working at Laufer Trucking has been a great experience. The people here are hardworking, helpful, and know how to keep things moving – literally. Whether it's drivers, maintenance, or office staff, everyone works together to get the job done. I like working here because no two days are exactly the same, and there's always something to keep you on your toes. The team is supportive, the work is rewarding, and somehow we manage to keep a sense of humor even when things get hectic. We haul freight and solve problems together.

Quest Engineering has been working with Laufer for over ten years. Their drivers are always respectful and helpful. The prices are competitive.

I have been with Laufer going on 10 years and from the beginning I felt like I am part of a team. Any concerns or issues that I may have had were addressed promptly and resolved. Mantz Automation has been doing business with Laufer for decades. Outstanding Customer Service, Dependable, Responsive, and most importantly Flexible. Laufer's ability to adapt to our needs has kept us coming back. Other carriers have just fallen short while Laufer has stood out.

Laufer Trucking is a company that you can have a career and not just a job. Everyone from the office to the mechanics are here to help you be successful. The senior drivers are always willing to help out new drivers too. They offer suggestions and have been a great resource to learn the business. The Laufers themselves foster this environment for everyone's success. I've felt welcomed and supported since day one. Simply put, I don't want to be anywhere else.

Working with Krista, Andy, and the owner, Al, makes a massive difference. They are straightforward, completely transparent, and just incredibly honest with their customers. If you need a trucking company that actually delivers on its promises and operates with real integrity, I can't recommend Laufer Trucking enough.

Losing my job in 2025 after almost twenty years with the same company was something I never expected. When I came to Laufer Trucking, I was just hoping to get back on my feet. What I found was a place that treated me with respect from day one. They took the time to hear my story, saw the experience I brought with me, and gave me the chance to start fresh with confidence. The people here look out for each other, and the leadership genuinely cares. What started as a tough detour in my life has turned into a place I'm truly grateful to be part of.

Laufer Trucking does daily pickups for Broan-NuTone from our steel supplier in the Chicago area. They can react to one-day lead times with either open or van equipment. They also react to changes in schedules or any additional expedited needs. Their Operations team is great to work with — they respond usually in minutes to any communication needed. Freight is always delivered safely and the way it was loaded (unharmed). My suppliers have also mentioned how great they are to work with. Drivers always have the needed PPE and follow all safety requirements.

Yes, Laufer carriers a higher than standard cargo insurance and has easy access to rider policies. Pricing can be determined quickly and affordably.
Local runs cover intrastate Wisconsin and Chicagoland. Laufer also focuses on the Midwest with a heavy presence in Indiana, Kentucky and Ohio. We have some coverage to areas beyond the Midwest as well, please see our interactive map. Our brokerage arm moves freight across the US and Canada.
We can haul just about anything in our dry vans, but focus mainly on serving industrial/manufacturing type shippers. Some of our main commodities include, bagged minerals, paper and cardboard products, steel and metal materials, stamped parts, crated overhead doors and other finished products.
Our flatbeds and conestogas focus on steel coils, steel bars, steel tubes, sheet steel, metal weldments, injection molds, recreational trailers, machinery and high value equipment.
A conestoga trailer combines the versatility of a flatbed with the protection of an enclosed trailer through a rolling tarp system that can be opened from the side. This design allows freight to be loaded from the side or at a dock while eliminating the need for drivers to manually tarp and untarp loads, saving time, reducing labor, and improving efficiency.
Conestoga trailers provide excellent weather protection while offering a less invasive solution for high-value or sensitive products that may be difficult to load into a traditional enclosed trailer. The result is faster loading and unloading, better cargo protection, and reduced handling risk.
Laufer Trucking's conestoga fleet is specifically configured to maximize cargo capacity. All of our conestoga trailers are equipped with 104 inches of vertical clearance, exceeding typical industry standards. For oversized and specialized shipments, our step deck conestoga trailers can accommodate up to 118 inches of vertical clearance, providing additional flexibility for taller freight.
Drop-trailer service is one of our biggest differentiators. When it makes sense, Laufer can provide a drop trailer to help our customers load with more convenience and less time constraints, freeing up floor space and eliminating driver wait times.
Drop trailer services are evaluated on a case-by-case basis depending on expected activity levels of the drop trailer.
This will depend on complexity of quote request and ensuring we have all the details needed to accurately quote. We do pride ourselves on all customers inquiries being acknowledged within 15 minutes during business hours. We pick up the phone, and proactive updates continue through pickup and delivery.
Flatbed roles need 12 months of Class A CDL experience. For our other roles, apply and a member of our hiring team will review your application. We look for a clean record and a willingness to communicate. We hire locally — West Bend, Jackson, Slinger, Hartford, Rubicon, Beaver Dam, Germantown, Mayville and the surrounding area.
